Spike

The Force Them Into Freedom crowd at Samizdata have decided to link to me, and there’s been a spike in my hits. Thanks chaps. They called this site "impeccably libertarian", which I find amusing as I’m not impeccably anything (I’m certainly not an anarcho-capitalist).

I’ve also had a comment (the only one so far) from Perry de Haviland, their generalisimo, on their calls for censorship. It seems that he likes being called an anarcho-militarist, but no comment so far as to why they want to sack those who dissent on the war.

More’n’more feedback

Some feedback today:

This on the layout:

Why did you change your layout? I mean, it was good before - maybe you could think up something else?

Why spend so much effort to look boring, Emmannuel? It doesn't suit you - trust my intuition. :-)

This on my
latest column, my original writing in bold:

The organisers and the cheerleaders of the terror incidents are in almost every case first-generation immigrants.

Debatable. You may be right, but I get the feeling simply from listening to those who hit the media that increasingly the fronting (and perhaps the organising) of anti-British, anti-white, anti-infidel Islamic movements is coming from British born Muslims.

Richard Reid notwithstanding, so are most of the foot soldiers.

I don't think this is true, Emmanuel. It is those born and raised here who have the sense of alienation. Reid, of course, had the additional complication of being mixed-race.

This should not be surprising when one is considering international terrorism. There will be enormous costs, both economic and political, of completely cutting off immigration - even if it is only from Muslim or Arab lands.

That is the only thing which would really have an impact, but even then you are left with the problem of blacks and Asians who are British citizens. How would you prevent more Reids?

Some marginal changes could really hurt the Islamists. Social security payments seem to sustain an unduly high proportion of these people,

But the majority of blacks and Asians in this country on benefit were born here. I certainly agree with the idea that non-citizens should not receive benefits.

as a brilliant piece by Mickey Kaus in Slate chronicled. We can also look at our policy of refusing to extradite those who face the death penalty back home.

You can't legally do that whilst we are signatories to the ECHR and have the HRA.

Britain has had to suspend habeas corpus to keep eight suspected terrorist leaders behind bars. Many of them could not be extradited because they were facing the death penalty in another country. Strange set of priorities.

There is also the elephant in the room you ignore, namely non-Muslim immigrants. They also represent a potential terrorist threat. What would you do about them?

And this person, who didn’t seem to like the latest column:

Its even more shameful when you promote your website and offer dead links. It looks like the second line is screwing you up. I still detect the anti American tone in your writings. Thats really shameful.
