Hurrah for St Tony

So Blair is going over to Bangladesh to stop a nuclear war involving more than a billion people. I know you know that I'm not making this up, but imagine if I'd written this two months ago, you would have thought I was making a sick joke. Luckily it looks as if Pakistan is scared enough to give in without much of a fight, and India is pulling back from the brink as soon as by-election season is over, when saber rattling seems to be the national sport.

Of course the laudatory plaudits of Blair won't tell us these facts.

Meanwhile over at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office there doesn't seem to be any urgency on the situation as their news page hasn't got anything on this forthcoming save the world mission, but two statements from Peter Hain on the inevitability of the Euro.
