Must Reid

An excellent article from Stuart Reid, showing the mixed feelings that true conservatives feel at this Afghan adventure. He points out that Western culture is not the shining beacon that it can be and that we haven't won the war in Afghanistan:

The September criminals must be brought to justice, and their networks destroyed, but it is impossible to view an unending war against terrorism -Orwellian, unwinnable - as a crusade for true Western civilisation. What we have here is a clash between post-Christian liberal humanism and mad and murderous theocracy; between lap-dancing and limb-cropping.

Amen.

He also points to the growing dislike of those who dissent from the war. This is illustrated by the Anarcho-Militarists in Samizdata. One of their new boys, Tom Burroughs, is calling for Mr Reid to be sacked.
