Brown's Euro Claptrap - 12th March 2003, 22.48

When comparing Blair and Brown, the question one asks is: who can you trust least? Both are mastered by spin but Brown is the more successful having worked out that Trappist vows imbue rare statements with a saintly power that will be pored over by the monks of the fourh estate. Brown's latest statements are designed to encourage a cloak of Euroscepticism and flirt with the right just as he has spent the last two years wooing support from the trade unions and Old Labour.

As Patrick Ruffley of the Treasury Select Committee states in the Guardian: crap. He just wants to be PM.
