Not so magic circle

The Telegraph reports on plans to ease in Ken Clarke to the Tory leadership before the Euro vote. The problem is that the voluntary party would vote for Arthur Scargill rather than Clarke. There is also no way that they will stop David Davies standing for the leadership that he's always covetted.

And here comes the kicker:

One report of the meeting suggests that representatives of the party's grassroots were persuaded that if Mr Duncan Smith resigned and the parliamentary party agreed on a successor, there would be no need to involve the membership. The 1922 Committee of backbench MPs would also be bypassed.

Do these people not realise that there are such things as law courts, and that they will be used by Tory members who have been denied their vote? Do they also not realise that some of them will have enough wealth to actually be named in these law suits?

Well, its their funeral.
