Troops may still be in danger in Mesopotamia (and outer Persia), but thoughts on Airstrip One always seem to turn to the dark continent. This speccie piece on how South Africa is becoming corrupt is a good bit of background.

Of course the use of the word "fascism" is overly emotive - we know he means business privately owned but state guided but the term is meant to evoke racial extermination. Some time ago I argued that another blogger should not be called a jingoist, not because his sprayed on patriotism was anything other than the shallow Disraelian bluster but because of the racist overtones.
